Yang Jie

Yang Jie Yang Jie entered the Vocal Performance Department of Central Conservatory of Music in 1977 and studied under Professors Wang Bingrui and Zhao Bixuan. After graduation, she was appointed soloist in China Broadcasting Art Troupe. Her recording, 200 Favorite Songs, won a gold medal in a CCTV competition. In 1988, she won the Silver Prize in the Second Schubert Lieder Competition held in Osaka, Japan. In 1986, she was invited by Central Opera House to perform in Carmen. In 1989, she joined in the Singapore Opera Association, performing in Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Rigoletto, Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Gounod’s Faust, Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She was also invited by Singapore Symphony Orchestra to performing in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Menotti’s The Medium. She has also performed in orchestral-vocal works including Verdi’s Requiem, Dvořák’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Schubert’s Requiem, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Kindertotenlieder and Symphonies Nos. 2 & 3 and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9. She has worked with orchestras including China Philharmonic, China National Symphony, Central Opera House, Shanghai Opera House, Shanghai Symphony, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony, Guangzhou Symphony, Qingdao Symphony, China Youth Symphony, Singapore Symphony, Taipei Symphony, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Macao Orchestra and Deutsche Oper Berlin. She has performed in nations and regions including France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Germany, the UK, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. She has also held several recitals.
