Yuri Smirnov graduated from St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov in 2005 (trumpet class of Prof. Y. Bolshiyanov and B. Taburetkin). He has been an orchestral trumpeter since 2000. He is currently Principal Trumpet of the State Hermitage Orchestra and a member of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra. Actively involving in musical life of St. Petersburg, he has appeared as a soloist at the "International Romantic Trumpet Festival", "Days of Culture of St. Petersburg in Riga," "International Conservatoire Week", etc. He has an extensive repertoire of works from the Baroque to the present day. He has given concerts in such venues as the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Concert Hall, the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg, the Smolny Cathedral, the Vorontsov Maltese Chapel Court, the Dome Cathedral in Riga, the Hall of Chamber and Organ Music in Sochi, Organ Hall of the Palace of Arts in Kondopoga, etc.
