Liu Shen

Liu Shen Liu Shen was born in a musical family in November, 2000. He loves music and drama, esp. operas. Equipped with perfect pitch, he has never learned singing and, instead, has studied piano since 5, under Prof. Zhong Hui. When he was 5, he starred as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with China Philharmonic Orchestra.
In June 2006, Liu toured Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai in a production of Die Zauberflöte, and in 2007 performed in Madama Butterfly, both produced by Central Conservatory. In 2008, he performed arias in La Traviata and Die Zauberflöte at the concert of International Conference on Sight Singing and Ear Training held in Central Conservatory. In April 2009, Liu won the first prize in singing in the 13th Beijing Student Art Festival. In April and May, he performed in Tosca and Carmen at the National Center for the Performing Arts. Also in April he took part in the recording of a children’s version of The Motherland for the celebration of the 60th National Day. In October, he performed in Turandot directed by Zhang Yimou.
In May 2010 he sang Der Hölle Rache, Les oiseaux dans la Charmille and O Sole Mio in Tianjin and Nanjing. In May and June he starred as Gherardino in Gianni Schicchi.
Liu is now a member of the Youth and Girls’ Chorus affiliated to China National Symphony Orchestra, often performing as soloist and lead singer.
