Michael Nestler was born in the “Motorcycle City” of Zschopau im Erzgebirge, Germany. Beginning on the recorder, Nestle continued lessons on the tenor horn, and finally at age 10 began lessons on the tuba. After many hours of practice, lessons, and many rehearsals with the local youth orchestra, he began his tuba studies with Prof. Walter Hilgers at the “Franz Liszt” Music Conservatory. He has served as Tubist with the Sächsisches Bläserphilharmonie since 2005. In addition to his work as an orchestral musician, Nestler teaches both children and adults on tuba as well as euphonium. An active guest player in many German orchestras, Nestler has played with groups such as the Komischen Oper Berlin, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Staatsorchester Brunswick, Musikallische Komödie Leipzig, and the Elblandphilmarmonie. Music has brought him to South Africa, Venezuela, Australia, China, The Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.
