Magnus Botzenhart was born 1973 in Kempten, Germany. After an amusing year of recorder, he began horn lessons at the local music school. After graduating high school, Botzenhart began his horn studies at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich, Germany under Johannes Ritzowsky. He then transferred to the Music Conservatory in Karlsruhe under Professors Purvis and Sanders. After positions in the Landestheater Flensburg, Landestheater Wittenberg, and the Westsächsische Symphonieorchester, he secured his current position as Principal Horn of the Sächsischen Bläserphilharmonie in 2006. Given the choice of working with a woodwind or brass quintet, he chose the latter.
